Made-For-TV- Vault: Lying Eyes (1996)

First thought: Okay, any movie from the 90's that features The Cranberries is already off to a good start.

Lifetime-y Tagline: Young and Beautiful. She was this year's pick...but somebody else's target.

Starring (aka: famous people you may know): Cassidy Rae showed her face in a few 90's Lifetime Movies, but after googling her it looks like she dropped off the face of the Hollywood earth. I really liked her as an actress - but that was back in the 90's when I thought most of the acting in these movies were decent! Nowadays, not so sure. It's pretty terrible, but that's why we LOVE Lifetime Movies! ;) Vincent Irizarry plays the creepy as all hell, Derek, who likes his ladies young and although a lawyer with young children seems to like to hang around a high school alot. Mmmhmm. 

Lifetime Movie Cliche Attached: Married Older Man Courts Young, Sexy High School Girl Then Someone Tries To Kill Her Out of Jealousy. 

Plot: Wow. I pretty much just told the whole movie plot with that cliche I just wrote. Anyways, I get it, Amy is a young, naive high schooler, she can't possibly know that  her new lover is a married man, right? I mean he DOES tell her she is the only one so that has to be legit then. Well after some time of being love bunnies (so, in Lifetime Movieland - 2 weeks) she starts getting "stalked." First, it's her coat that gets shredded in the gym locker room at school and mean ransom like notes in the mail box. EEEK! Hasn't she ever seen a Lifetime Movie before? RUN, girl, RUN!!! ...But, of course, she doesn't run too far and is often back in the arms of Derek (who annoys me quite a bit!)...

So this is where I haven't made up my mind about this Lifetime Movie posts...do I spill the beans and give away Spoiler of what happens or do I let you watch it for yourself?...I think I will let you watch it for yourself to see who the crazy bat is that is trying to kill Amy. So, that kind of leads me to...

WTF, I know it's a Lifetime Movie, but...I know that Lifetime Movies like to have twists, but the "crazy bat" here comes out of nowhere. Well, sort of. I mean, I can't even remember the first time I watched this movie - probably back in 1996 when I was a  young little lady at 10 - but I think they really wanted you to be shocked! I mean it would be too obvious to go with Derek's wife, right? The Crazy Bat has very little screen time, but I suppose her motive works. Ree Ree Ree!

Made-For-TV Movie Vault: A Face to Die For (1996)

Starring (AKA Who You May Know): Yasmine Bleeth is the one that stands out probably. She was in Baywatch and a couple of other notable Lifetime movies that will surely be reviewed at some point. She plays quiet, insecure Emily who has scars on her face from a car accident when she was young that killed her father. She's a costume designer at the local theater company and works for an old man who sells pricey art to bitches like Mrs. Burman. James Wilder : Know way in heck would you recognize this name, but he pops up in another fabulous Lifetime Movie Our Mother's Murder. From the two movies I have seen him in he's a dick in both of them - and does pretty well!

Plot: As previously mentioned, Emily lives in the shadows of her scarred face. She's quiet and self conscious and treated like crud by her sister and mother. Clearly, the black sheep of the family. Emily works for a rich old man, where she first meets Alec. Alec ignores her scarred up face and falls in love with her even going so far as to propose to her. Everything seems perfect, until Alec threatens to leave town because of some financial shizz. Afraid to loose her "only one true love" she helps him steal from the Old Man she works for. Things go wrong and the old man has a heart attack, she stays and ends up going to jail while Alec runs away with her sister. She gets beat up in prison and meets a surgeon who magically repairs her face! SURPRISE! She looks EXACTLY like his ex-wife. EXACTLY. Which means they were separated at birth. Emily flips her lid, leaves the Doctor and starts her own fashion design business under the new name of Adrienne. She becomes super successful and no one seems to know that she used to be Emily - not even her own sister or Alec. Anywho, Alec catches on and he ends up dead. Happy ending.

What the..? I know it's Lifetime, but...: This story seems awfully far fetched to be a true story - or even loosely based on one. It is a book however, which makes more sense. I just think it's ridiculous how no one knows that Adrienne is Emily. Pfft, oh well. That's a movie for you. ;)

Made-For-TV Vault: Friends Til the End (1997)

Lifetime-y Tagline: Two Sorority Sisters, One Had It All. The Other Was Dying To Take It Away.

Starring (A.k.A. Who You May Know): Shannon Doherty is Ms.Popularity in this one and I actually like her. She plays Heather (ha!) who is a big Sorority Queen who is in a popular band called Dead Pink and has the perfect boyfriend, family and life. Jennifer Blanc (who?) plays Zan Armstrong/Suzanne who  plays creepy well. She manages to turn people against Heather, make her look stupid on local TV, sleep with her boyfriend, put some junk in her drink to make her vomit, steal the show when it comes to Dead Pink, and so on. Jeremy (or is Jason? Too lazy to Google) London is naughty, annoying boyfriend Simon who sleeps with Zan because she wore a short blue dress and bought him a drink for his birthday. Totally lame, Simon.

Lifetime Movie Cliche Attached: Mentally Unstable Chick Wants More Popular Chicks Life And Does Anything To Get It - Including MURDER!

The plot: I seriously think the Cliche just explained this whole plot. This has always been one of my favorite 'Lifetime' movies. It starts off with these two girls in a talent show. The blonde one breaks down because she messed up and the brunette won, or something like that. Fast forward to the college years and we get creepy Zan with overly done blue eyeshadow watching Heather from afar. She slowly (or fastly I guess since it's a 1.5 hour movie) becomes BFF with Heather and everything seems hunky dory, until like 20 minutes in when you see how crazy Zan is when she's etching out Heather's face in some photo of her and her boyfriend, Simon. She joins the sorority, joins the band, steals the boyfriend, ruins friendships, oh and murders a dude who knows who she really is in an alley with a brick... with a brick? REALLY? So things are going really well for Zan at this point. Dude is dead. She's boning Simon. Heather is out of the band. But, soon Heather catches on and finds Zan's mother and learns that Zan was that blonde girl at the talent show many years ago and that now she has some sort of never ending grudge against Heather and wants to be her. In the end, it's Heather's show and Zan is ultimately defeated when the crazies come out during the battle of the bands. The end.

WTF? I Know it's Lifetime, But...Dude dies from getting his head smashed in with a brick? Boring!
I totally like some of the songs from Dead Pink, it's probably because I've seen it so many times. HA!!

Made-For-TV Movie Vault: The Killing Secret (1998)

Lifetime-y Tagline: Some secrets should not be kept.

Starring (A.k.A. Who You May Know): Soleil Moon Frye plays Emily, the "other woman," the poor girl from the wrong side of tracks, the one who gets pregnant and murdered. besides her I don't really know anyone else from the movie without doing some research.You know Soleil from Punky Brewster and Sabrina the Teenage Witch.  Tess Harper who plays Emily's mother, Tina is apparently still around and has acted as recently as 2011 in Revenge, and other shows like Breaking Bad, Grey's Anatomy, and Law & Order.

Lifetime Movie Cliche Attached: Cheating boyfriends kills to keep his affair a secret.

The plot: **CONTAINS SPOILERS (scroll down if you would rather watch it)**We meet Nicole and Greg, high school's perfect couple. She a cheerleader and he is a star football player, of course! They have their futures all set, they are both going to graduate high school and go to the same college together and live happily ever after. That is until we find out that Greg is too timing Nicole with Emily who unlike him, is poor and from the "wrong side of the tracks." Minutes into the movie we find out that Emily has a surprise for Greg that she's pregnant with his baby (because she's never been with anyone else, duh!) and instead of being happy about it, Greg offers to pay for the abortion. No matter how many times that Emily says it, Greg just can't seem to understand that Emily isn't getting rid of this baby and is desperate for them to be together and she really wants to meet his family. Greg has other plans though and ends up murdering her to keep this little secret...a secret. Nicole becomes buddy buddy with Emily's mom, Tina and starts to suspect that Greg was the one who murdered Emily. BUT WAIT, there is a twist, because out of nowhere they arrest this crazy dude who is obsessed with Emily or something and that's the end of that. Until Nicole starts piecing things together (the jammed door, the flower button that they focused really heavily on, and the bloody lamp shade) and tries to go prove that it was Greg who is the murder. Greg senses that Nicole is on to him and meets her at the place where they went to "be alone." He almost kills her, but due to his powerful love for her...just...can't...do... it and he is sentenced to jail.

Made-For-TV Movie Vault: A Friend's Betrayal (1996)

Also known as...

Lifetime-y Tagline: She wanted everything: freedom, friendship and her best friend's teenage son.

DUN DUN DUN!!

Starring (aka Who You May Know): Brian Austin Green who played David from Beverly Hills, 90210 is Paul, the 18-year-old kid who falls for his mother's friend, Nina. Nina is played by Sharon Lawrence who was on NYPD Blue for six years. That chubby girl from Now and Then who actually died in 2007: Ashleigh Aston Moore plays Paul's sister, Ella.

Lifetime Movie Cliche Attached: Older woman + Teen Boy

The plot: It was hard to stay involved in this one. For a Lifetime movie it was pretty boring! Nina's mother dies. She leans on her friend with the hot son. Immediately, you can tell that they are going to bone at some point in the movie (well, duh, that's the movie...), but I was surprised that it took a half hour into the movie (it really felt like hours since it's soooooooooooo slow). Eventually the mother finds out. Hell breaks loose. There is tension for awhile, Paul moves out. The movie ends with Nina breaking things off with Paul and moving away. All is well...

BORRRRRRRRRRRRING. 

What the...? I don't really see that big of a deal when it comes to the whole affair. Sure, he's a little young for her, and sure, she's his mother's best friend, but the relationship is consenual and he is an adult. Did we really need a whole two hour movie about this? Atleast have someone get murdered at the end...sheesh! 

The REAL Lifetime Story: I am sure that 18-year-olds sleep with their mother's friends all the time... eh... right?

Made-For-TV Movie Vault: Twisted Desire (1996)

Lifetime-y Tagline: Nothing can come between a girl and her true love...except maybe murder.

Starring (aka: famous people you may know): Melissa Joan Hart as the naughty, manipulative Jennifer. Daniel Baldwin as Jennifer's controlling, dickhead of a dad. David Lascher as the boy that Jennifer desires to be with. FUN FACT: David has connections with Melissa Joan Hart during her future Sabrina, the Teenage Witch days, too! Oh, and he was in Hey Dude! 

Lifetime Movie Cliche Attached: Daughter kills parents to be with boyfriend. 

Plot: Jennifer has parents - mainly her dad - who doesn't let her do anything -  won't let her go to parties, dress in skimpy clothes, see her friends, etc, basically "ruining her life." Her mother doesn't seem to be too bad, but apparently isn't strong enough to stand up to the dad's controlling ways. Jennifer meets this kid at a gas station and immediately sees him as a way to get what she wants. What does she want? To be with Brad and be rid of her parents. So... the best way to do that of course is to seduce gas station boy and convince him to kill her parents! CLEARLY! She throws in some accusations and a few "its the only way we can be together" and gas station boy does just that. Immediately after the death of her parents, Jennifer's true colors start to show. Surprisingly, Melissa Joan Hart plays bad really well. I never would have thought so since she is most known for being sweet Clarissa and Sabrina! In the end, the audience is able to see how well this Jennifer character set gas station boy up since the very beginning which makes you want to slap her in the face even more! 

The REAL Lifetime story: Apparently this movie was based on the 1990 murders of 14-year-old Jessica Wiseman's parents. The murderer and Jessica's boyfriend in this story was Douglas Christopher Thomas who was put to death by lethal injection in 2000. Jessica was tried as a juvenile and was released at the age of 21.

There's another story that sticks out too, however, occurred in 2003, but has been featured on shows such as Snapped and Deadly Women. That involved Sarah Johnson, 16, who murdered her parents because they disapproved of her relationship with her 19-year-old boyfriend. She was sentenced to two consecutive life terms, plus fifteen for firearm enhancement.
